Quarter Life Crisis

I am doing a project on Quarter Life Crisis (QLC) and I realised that I am suffering from it too!!! Quarterlife Crisis is an identity crisis. "Quarter-life crisis is the transition from the comfort zone of school to the job market, refers to the adjustments we have to make after we leave school. " This may start even when we are in schools...

One of the victims, Do said, " I became depressed and moody whenever I was alone. But around people who were important to me, I was always my usual self; happy and giddy. I never told anyone about how I was feeling because I didn't know how to explain it." ---> Oh no! I think I am like her!!!

Among the people who were interviewed, authors of the book "Quarterlife Crisis: The Unique Challenges of Life in Your Twenties" (2001),Alexandra Robbins and Abby Wilner, found something in common. Although there is nothing actually going wrong in their lives, they are not happy with it. The young people, mostly university graduates, have the feeling that something is missing - however, they have no idea what this might be. They chose a certain way of life but are not sure whether this is the right way to go. Many "twentysomethings" are full of self-doubts; they feel unhappy, confused, clueless, disoriented and somehow adrift - typical symptoms of the quarterlife crisis.

"We are too afraid of having a life-long relationship, and at the same time we fear that we might be left on the shelf." --Does this sound like someone? hmm... he may be suffering from QLC...

''We know that just one single wrong decision will change our life in different ways and might ruin everything. Because we are too afraid of the consequences of a wrong decision, we do not want to tie ourselves to something specific. Instead we try out different lifestyles, either by changing the subjects at university or by changing the job ('job-hopping') several times - or even the partner. This experimenting with different ways of life reflects a kind of escape from oneself.''

Those 2 authors above actually advises us to look back at their lives when we were children or teenagers. Any dreams that we had as a 12-year-old might lead us the way out of the crisis. At the same time we should believe in ourselves and in our skills. We should not be afraid to experiment with the choices we have, and we should dare to take the risk of doing something wrong in life. Only by being active, by changing our current situation, we may find out which way we want to go.

A quarterlife crisis is just a phase - and as all phases, it also has an end.

Anyway Gelare at TM should expand their area cos it's so small then we have to wait for so long. Actually we could have gotten a seat earlier but a couple just came in and snatched our place. Haiz... We are just too nice.hahaha!

Then later I am going shopping with Sheila! I wanna buy more clothes! hahahaha! oops... that means lesser money in my bank account. =(
